Text: PPMABC Annual Symposium March 1st, 2024 The Intersection of Nature and Technology in IPM The Professional Pest Management Association of British Columbia invites abstract submissions for the symposium with the theme "Intersection of Nature and Technology in Pest Management," scheduled for March 1, 2024, at KPU Langley campus. Guidelines: Submit a Word document (up to 150 words) with Title, authors' names, affiliations, and contact info. Include Obiective, Methodology, Results, and Conclusion. Review Process: Abstracts undergo peer review; acceptance notifications by February 24, 2024. Presentation Details: Accepted presentations get a 10-minute slot per student, plus 2 minutes for Q&A. Pacific Branch ESA Meeting, April 14-17 at Waikoloa Beach

The Pacific Branch of the Entomological Society of America will host their 2024 meeting from April 14-17 at Waikoloa Beach, Hawaii. Early-bird registration fees are available until March 28, 2024. In addition to oral and poster presentations, several other activities will be offered, including social mixers and an employment fair. 2023 ESBC Student Awards Student Oral Presentation Awards Each year the Entomological Society of British Columbia presents up to three awards for the best student oral presentations. Prizes are awarded at the AGM. See https://entsocbc.ca/meetings/ for info regarding the conference and AGM Dexter Johnson Award in Insect Science This is a $1000 annual award recognizes the best manuscript submitted in any peer-reviewed journal by a student in the field of insect ecology. The award is open to all students (membership in the ESBC is not necessary). Submitted manuscripts must have been published or accepted for publication since the previous year's submission deadline. Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Award The Entomological Society of British Columbia annually awards a scholarship of $1000 to support the participation of one graduate student from a group currently underrepresented within the ESBC. Funds may be used at the student's discretion. Graduate Student Scholarship Competition The Entomological Society of British Columbia awards annually a scholarship of $1000 to up to two postgraduate students to encourage students engaged in entomological research in BC. ESBC Legacy Award

The Entomological Society of British Columbia has initiated a new award, the Entomological Society of British Columbia Legacy Award, to recognize B.C. entomologists that have made outstanding contributions to their discipline of entomology throughout their career. This award will be awarded to an individual in recognition of their significant contributions in research, mentoring, teaching, extension, innovation, pest management and active volunteer involvement in the ESBC and other societies/organizations in B.C. and beyond.
